Ben Cherington is on the hot seat with the Pittsburgh Pirates, but he could use the upcoming trade deadline to help the Boston Red Sox on last time.

The Boston Red Sox have been surrounded by trade rumors this season, and they might end up cutting ties with a few relief pitchers in the coming weeks.

In an interview with MLB Network Radio on SiriusXM, Breslow described the Red Sox’ deadline needs as “fluid” due to some of the recent individual performances they’ve had at certain positions.

The Red Sox have agreed to a deal with first-round draft pick Kyson Witherspoon, according to MLB Pipeline’s Jim Callis . Witherspoon will get a $5MM bonus, which is below the $5,114,200 slot price attached to the 15th overall selection.

As the Red Sox reportedly seek pitching help, they're set to scout the Diamondbacks' Zac Gallen and Merrill Kelly.
