A new study from the University College London found that men with ADHD have a reduced life expectancy of 6.78 years, and its worse for women.

On average, women diagnosed with attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder died almost nine years earlier, while men died almost seven years earlier, the U.K. study found.

“The evidence that people with diagnosed ADHD are living shorter lives than they should is extremely concerning, and highlights unmet support needs that require urgent attention,” the scientists wrote in their paper, published Thursday in The British Journal of Psychiatry.
