After several days without negotiations and the federal labour board deeming the strike illegal, Air Canada and the union representing flight attendants met Monday night with a mediator.

More than 10,000 Air Canada flight attendants went on strike after a deadline to reach a deal passed, the union confirmed early Saturday.

The strike stranded more than 100,000 travelers around the world during the peak summer travel season.
