Superior National Forest Brimson Complex Fire Area Closure DULUTH, Minn. – Due to the Brimson Complex fires (Camp House & Jenkins Creek fires) on the Superior National Forest (SNF) is closing a portion of the Laurentian Ranger District.
Three major wildfires raging out of control in the same Minnesota county have burned more than 20,000 acres combined.
According to Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, the state has already had 970 fires this year. On average the state experiences a little over 1,100 a year, remember it’s only May.
The U.S. Forest service says say the Camp House fire has burned over 12,000 acres and 140 structures have been destroyed.
Firefighters are battling three major wildfires in Minnesota, all of which have burnt over a thousand acres of land.The Camp House Fire, the Jenkins Creek Fire, Munger Shaw Fire in St Louis County were all at zero percent containment on Monday evening.
The bar has had some “rude” rubberneckers treating the tragedy “like a bonfire,” said Jessica Willemarck, but by and large, the proprietors have seen “just a lot of concerned people trying to figure out what’s all going on.”
Anthony Coughlin, the owner of a local dog sledding business called Endurance Kennels LLC, wrote on GoFundMe that one dog born at the business' kennel in 2022 died early Monday morning "due to the immediate evacuation and stress of the Camp House Fire."
