A Powerball ticket sold in California won $31,776, but just missed the $92 million jackpot, lottery officials say. The ticket matched four winning numbers and the Powerball in the drawing Saturday, Dec. 21, the California Lottery said. A player in Illinois won $1 million, and players in Idaho and New Jersey won $2 million.

The Powerball jackpot is worth an estimated $88 million for Saturday's drawing. If someone wins Saturday's jackpot, they could take home $40.2 million after taxes, according to the lottery. On Dec. 7, the winning $256 million ticket was sold in New York, resetting the jackpot back to $20 million.

No tickets were sold matching all six numbers in Wednesday evening’s drawing of the multi-state Powerball lottery, pushing the estimated jackpot for Saturday’s drawing to $88 million. A ticket matching five numbers was sold in California at a Sacramento gas station in the 4200 block of Marconi Ave.
