Experts with the U.S. Geological Survey have attached a specific percentage to the risk that Monday morning's earthquake could be a precursor to a larger one.
An earthquake with a magnitude of 4.3 gave the Bay Area a big jolt early Monday morning, the United States Geological Survey reports. The quake, which had a preliminary magnitude of 4.6, had an epicenter in Berkeley on Dwight Way near Piedmont Avenue, close to the University of California campus. It struck at 2:56 a.m.
Several aftershocks have struck Berkeley in the same area where a 4.3 earthquake hit early Monday morning, shaking the Bay Area.
