Warner Bros. Discovery, the owner of HBO, CNN, and other cable networks, said on Tuesday that it is putting itself up for sale.
The price hike comes as WBD considers an outright sale following unsolicited interest from other media companies.
Warner Bros. Discovery and CJ ENM have revealed a sweeping multi-year partnership that will bring a pipeline of Korean drama and entertainment to HBO Max subscribers across Asia Pacific, marking one of the most significant collaborations between a Hollywood studio and a Korean content powerhouse.
Warner Bros. Discovery and CJ ENM, the Korean conglomerate behind Oscar-winner Parasite, have struck a major partnership deal. The two companies will co-produce original Korean drama series to air on HBO Max as well as making the streaming service the home of CJ’s TVING in a number of markets across Asia-Pacific.
HBO Max is raising all subscription costs to the max — effective immediately. The streamer, which returned to its original name earlier this year, announced Tuesday that it will immediately hike up prices for new subscriptions.
Yet another streaming platform is asking people to dig deeper into their wallets and pay more to keep using the service. Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) has jacked up the prices of all HBO Max plans, 16 months after the last increase to the ad-free offerings.
