The second major winter storm of 2025 continues to brew and now threatens to drop snow and ice along a 1,500-mile corridor of the southern U.S.

Any wintry precipitation in Oklahoma and Texas should end by midday. Snow will spread from the Mid-South region into Kentucky, Tennessee, far northern parts of Mississippi, Alabama and Georgia into North Carolina and upstate South Carolina.

Another massive winter storm is forecast to pummel the southern and eastern U.S., with impacts from Texas to the Carolinas.

Storm Cora tracks eastward, the Carolinas, including Greenville, Columbia, Charlotte and Raleigh, will get a taste of some wintry precipitation. Here’s the forecast for who could see snow and ice, how much is expected and when it will fall.

The South Carolina Department of Transportation has crews mobilized across the state for possible snow and ice impacts associated with Winter Storm Cora.

Areas in the north Georgia mountains will see between 3-6 inches of snow with locally higher amounts possible farther north into the mountains. Snowfall totals of 1-2 inches will be common around I-20 with 0.1-0.25 inch of ice possible. The northern suburbs in metro Atlanta will see between 2-3 inches of snow.

Snow and ice will spread into the Southern Plains Wednesday night. Parts of north and west Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas and southern Kansas are forecast to see snow. A band of sleet and freezing rain may stretch from central Texas into northern Louisiana and southern Arkansas.
