Boom! Iowa has landed its top transfer portal target as QB Mark Gronowski confirms he is joining the Hawkeyes.

Former South Dakota State star quarterback Mark Gronowski, the top QB remaining in the portal, has committed to Iowa, he told ESPN.

Former South Dakota State football QB and two-time national champion Mark Gronowski announced his commitment to Iowa on Tuesday.

Iowa football has made a splash in the transfer portal at the quarterback position with the addition of 2023 Walter Payton Award recipient Mark Gronowski.

Iowa football has one of the most prized quarterbacks in the transfer portal. Mark Gronowski is going to the Big Ten from South Dakota State.

The Walter Payton Award, the FCS equivalent of the Heisman Trophy, went to Gronowski last year. Posting a 49-6 career record as the SDSU starter, he's thrown for 10,903 yards with 93 against 20 interceptions. He's added 1,767 and 37 scores on the ground.

It's both transfer season and bowl season in college football. The poor timing of the sport's calendar means that players need to enter the transfer portal immediately after the end of the season to enroll at a new school for the second semester.
