Secretary of State Marco Rubio said he expressed the United States' frustration that more progress has not been made on ending the war in Ukraine in a meeting on Thursday with Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov.

The conclusion follows a meeting between US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov on July 10 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Rubio said he used the meeting to convey President Donald Trump’s frustration with Russia’s lack of “flexibility” on ending the war.

Rubio and Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov held talks in Kuala Lumpur on the sidelines of the annual Association of Southeast Asian Nations Regional Forum, which brings together 10 ASEAN members and their most important diplomatic partners including Russia, China, Japan, South Korea, European nations and the U.S.
