Memorial Day will bring comfortable weather to Southeast Michigan. Monday is expected to top out around 70 degrees. That is still just shy of the average for late May, but it is a steady move in the right direction. The average high for Monday is 74 degrees.

As cities throughout the country celebrate Memorial Day on May 26, Northern Michigan has its own parades and ceremonies planned.

Various opportunities to honor members of the military who died while serving the nation are taking place across West Michigan for Memorial Day this year. Originally called Decoration Day, the holiday was first observed by communities all over the U.

Now that power is restored and fallen trees have been cleared, communities up north are ready for visitors and tourists for Memorial Day weekend.

Beyond Friday's chance of a stray shower, the wet weather has mostly left the Metro Detroit forecast as warmer air moves in for the Memorial Day holiday.

The following state parks have closures in effect during Memorial Day weekend: Bewabic State Park: The B and C loops of the modern campground are closed for construction and road repaving. Brimley State Park: The day-use area is closed and set to reopen June 15.
