Leadership from the Kansas City Royals and 29 other MLB teams has gathered in Orlando for this year's Winter Meetings, where executives can discuss trade options and possible free-agent moves and speak to reporters about their offseason plans.
The Milwaukee Brewers beefed up their bullpen on Saturday by acquiring left-handed reliever Angel Zerpa from the Kansas City Royals in exchange for outfielder Isaac Collins and reliever Nick Mears, according to reports.
The Royals reportedly agreed to terms with veteran outfielder Lane Thomas, per multiple outlets. The move comes hours after Mike Yastrzemski — who played with KC this past season and was one of the Royals’ top free agents — signed with the Atlanta Braves.
The Kansas City Royals remained busy on Friday afternoon as they signed veteran reliever Jose Cuas to a minor-league deal. Cuas, 31, returns to the Royals after spending last season in the Philadelphia Phillies and Atlanta Braves organizations. He last pitched in the majors in 2024 with the Toronto Blue Jays.
The Royals have had discussions with the Nationals about shortstop CJ Abrams and left-hander MacKenzie Gore, ESPN's Jeff Passan reports.
