No Kings protest leaders in Lafayette invite like-minded people from all political parties to join them for peaceful event Saturday, Oct. 18.
Concern over human rights violations, lack of action by the U.S. Congress and frustration with President Donald Trump's administration were some of the reasons that brought over 200 people to the No Kings 2.0 Alexandria rally.
Thousands of people gathered at 10 events across Louisiana as part of Saturday’s national No Kings movement to protest President Donald Trump. Beyond their criticisms of the administration, organizers and participants shared messages of unity and countered Republicans who labeled their events as “hate rallies.
In cities both big and small, rural and urban people gathered for 'No Kings' Day protests. There were 11 in Louisiana, with one in Baton Rouge drawing around 1,000 attendees.
Protestors are gathering across the nation against the Trump administration. Three cities in the Arklatex have community members participating in the movement.
The protest, organized by Indivisible Baton Rouge, drew a crowd in the hundreds who lined the edge of BREC's Perkins Road Community Park armed with drums, signs, slogans, jokes and costumes.
More "No Kings" rallies are planned across the country, including here in Minnesota. Organizers say they have volunteers focused on de-escalation in case of tension.
"No Kings" returns to the Triangle on Saturday, Oct. 18, for a second wave of protests. According to organizers, people will mobilize for a nationwide, nonviolent day of action to "defend democratic norms and reject authoritarianism."
