Suchir Balaji, a former OpenAI researcher who ultimately became a whistleblower speaking out against the company, was found dead in his San Francisco apartment Nov. 26. His death has been ruled a suicide.

CINCINNATI (WKRC) - A former OpenAI employee turned whistleblower was found dead in his San Francisco home. According to police, Suchir Balaji died from an apparent suicide. Originally, police were called to his home to perform a wellbeing check on Nov. 26. They arrived and found him already dead.

Suchir Balaji, 26, was found dead inside his Buchanan Street apartment on Nov. 26, San Francisco police and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner said. Police had been called to the Lower Haight residence at about 1 p.m. that day, after receiving a call asking officers to check on his well-being, a police spokesperson said.
