According to USA Today's Power Outage Tracker, there are a total of 48,997 outages in over 60 counties as of 8:16 a.m., with the most outages being in Glynn County, a coastal region in southeastern Georgia.

In addition, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security says to keep refrigerators and freezers closed: Refrigerators will keep food cold for about four hours, and freezers will keep food cold for about 48 hours. If power is out for more than a day, throw out any medication that requires refrigeration, the agency said.

As a historic winter storm hit Florida and Georgia on Tuesday and into Wednesday morning, thousands were left without power.

More than 25,000 people in Glynn County have been affected, according to Georgia Power. Nassau County has about 3,419 customers without power and JEA is reporting more than 4,500 customers affected. Customers affected- 1,293

As a rare winter system continues to impact northern Florida and the Panhandle on Wednesday, bringing historic snowfall and frigid temperatures in some areas, power outages are affecting residents.
