The REAL ID deadline is May 7. You'll need to have one or an approved alternative with you to pass through TSA checkpoints.

Standard ID cards, which are still valid for all other purposes outside of domestic flights and entering federal buildings, now feature the phrase “Not For Federal Purposes” in the top-right corner. Those who wish to obtain a Real ID must go to a DMV office. You cannot get a Real ID online, by phone, or through mail.

After nearly 20 years of delays, the Real ID deadline is finally here. Beginning May 7, Americans planning to travel domestically are required to use the enhanced form of identification.
