At 11 p.m. Wednesday, the National Hurricane Center issued an advisory stating that Tropical Storm Humberto is in the Atlantic Ocean, 505 miles east-northeast of the Northern Leeward Islands. The system is moving to the west-northwest at 12 mph, with maximum sustained winds of 45 mph.

Forecasters say a hurricane warning has been issued for the Azores as Hurricane Gabrielle races across open Atlantic waters on track for the volcanic archipelago.

Three of the last five years have seen two or more U.S. hurricane landfalls after Sept. 25. And a variant of tropical double trouble is upon us approaching the anniversary of Helene and Milton.

Two tropical systems may develop into the next named storms of the season over the next few days, the National Hurricane Center said.
