According to the map, shared with Newsweek on Saturday, areas that could see between six and 12 inches of snow include parts of South Dakota, southern Minnesota, the majority of Iowa, northwest Missouri, central and southern Wisconsin, as well as portions of Illinois, Indiana, and Michigan.
GRAND RAPIDS, MI - The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch that will stretch from Monday afternoon through Tuesday morning for three counties along the Lake Michigan shoreline. The Winter Storm Watch covers Ottawa, Muskegon and Oceana counties, including the cities of Grand Haven, Muskegon, Jenison and Hart.
Scenario No. 3 — GFS shows a southern track, but close to the coast. Boston and areas north, west pick up decent snow. The GFS model suggests the storm to pass south of New England, but closer to shore than the Euro.
A winter storm system is expected to intensify Saturday morning, bringing steady snow showers and creating potentially hazardous travel conditions across Illinois, Missouri, Iowa, Wisconsin and Michigan. Chicago, Minneapolis, Milwaukee, St. Louis, Indianapolis, Detroit and Roanoke, Virginia, are a few of the cities at risk through the weekend.
“Lower Michigan saw widespread snow from Saturday morning through Sunday morning,” the NWS in Grand Rapids said. “The heaviest snow fell Saturday evening and Saturday night. Here is an estimated snow map, and some of the highest reports we have received:”
The first winter storm of the season could bring anywhere between 1 and 8 inches of snow across the Lehigh Valley and Poconos.
The storm will also bring heavy rain to the southern half of New Jersey. A messy Tuesday morning commute is expected.
At 2:54 p.m. on Sunday, the National Weather Service issued an updated winter weather advisory valid from 6 p.m. until Monday 7 a.m. for Southern Erie.
