Investigators have recovered the cockpit voice recorder (CVR) from the crashed Air India flight, a key step in uncovering what caused last week's deadly accident.

Tragedy struck India last week when an Air India Boeing 787 crashed less than a minute after takeoff in Ahmedabad. Air India flight AI171 was bound for London Gatwick and was carrying 230 passengers along with 12 crew members.

The aircraft crashed into the campus of a medical college in Meghaninagar moments after taking off from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport at 1:39 pm on June 12, killing 241 out of 242 on board as well as 29 on the ground.
