Commuters are being warned of icy roads and travel disruption, as temperatures plummeted again overnight across the UK. Fresh weather warnings have been issued, with snow, ice and fog forecast across southern England, Wales, Northern Ireland and northern Scotland on Thursday.

Hundreds of schools across the UK have been forced to close after the country was hit by overnight snow and ice. A number of yellow weather warnings from the Met Office remain in place for large parts of the UK on Wednesday,

The Met Office has issued fresh weather warnings for ice after huge areas of the UK were hit by heavy snow. Parts of southern Scotland, the northeast, Yorkshire, the Midlands and East Anglia have been issued a yellow warning for ice.
