The impending winter storm is set to begin across the south-central U.S. on Friday.

Gov. Kathy Hochul warned residents to prepare for winter hazards and disruptions to their daily lives. Millions of people from the Rockies to New England are in the path of dangerous weather.

"This is a complicated forecast and details regarding the location of heaviest snowfall and freezing rain totals remain uncertain," the NWS says.
