New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara races through the Washington Commanders defense on a 29-yard gain from quarterback Jake Haener.

Saints rookie quarterback Spencer Rattler had entered the game on the scoring drive. Rattler took the initial snap on the play and threw a backward pass to Wilson, who found Kamara in the end zone for the score. Wilson, a six-year NFL veteran, had thrown a touchdown pass once before in 2020 with the Dallas Cowboys.

The New Orleans Saints weren’t getting production from Jake Haener or Spencer Rattler at quarterback on Sunday against the Washington Commanders. So, they went to a trick play and Cedrick Wilson Jr. showed the arm they hoped to have. It helped that Alvin Kamara was the target and made a great one-hand grab in the end zone.

Saints wide receiver Cedrick Wilson Jr. threw his first touchdown pass since 2020, receiving a toss from rookie quarterback Spencer Rattler and then finding running back Alvin Kamara for a 21-yard touchdown on first-and-10 with 5:53 left in the third quarter.
