Bronx lottery winner claims $1 million prize — from a 2024 drawing
A Bronx has recently become the latest New York Lottery millionaire after matching the first five numbers in a 2024 Mega Millions drawing. His ticket earned the game’s $1 million second-tier prize, and he only recently stepped forward to claim his winnings.

The New York Lottery today announced one second-prize-winning ticket was sold for the Sept. 29 Powerball drawing, making one lucky player a millionaire overnight. The $1 million ticket was sold at East Side Grocery, located at 1422 2nd Ave. in Manhattan, according to lottery officials.

He received a one-time lump sum payment of $651,000 after required withholdings. Phillips purchased the winning ticket at Kinney Drugs, located at 9543 US Route 11 in Brewerton, Oswego County.
