What Dustin May means for the Cardinals rotation
For the 2026 version of the St. Louis Cardinals, I will call Saturday’s signing of Dustin May a “splash” move for the organization. Until this point, their biggest transaction was trading away from the rotation but the newest member of the Cardinals does provide some stability to a rotation full of question marks.
Nick Chubb earned a questionable tag after returning to a limited practice but he's expected to sit out Sunday's game against Arizona.
The 8-5 Houston Texans are back at home to try and continue their recent winning ways for Week 15 against the 3-10 Arizona Cardinals, attempting to etch win number six in a row in order to keep the momentum hot for their playoff hopes in the AFC.
According to Katie Woo of The Athletic, "The Seattle Mariners and San Francisco Giants have emerged as front-runners for St. Louis Cardinals infielder Brendan Donovan, sources familiar with negotiations tell The Athletic, with the Cardinals looking to land multiple top prospects in a return."
The Cardinals and right-hander Dustin May have agreed to a one-year contract, a source told MLB.com's Mark Feinsand on Saturday. The club has not confirmed the deal. Still just 28 years old, May entered free agency as one of the youngest and most intriguing players on the market.
But with the task of the Cardinals at hand on their home field, the Texans still won't be overlooking the opposition en route to try and extend the streak to six. And for Houston's star pass-rusher, Will Anderson Jr., that starts with handing some major respect to Jacoby Brissett and what he can do for Arizona's offense.
"The Padres' players in the talks include right-hander Nick Pivetta, outfielder Ramón Laureano and relievers Mason Miller, Adrian Morejon and Jeremiah Estrada. San Diego, in turn, is asking the Mets about their young major leaguers and all of their top prospects, both pitchers and position players."
