The Dearborn Police Department responded to the reported domestic dispute in the 7800 block of Reuter Street on Sunday.

Police arrested one person after a Dearborn woman was stabbed to death Sunday night in an apparent domestic violence situation.

Dearborn police were at a home on Reuter Street where a 70-year-old woman was stabbed to death, with the suspect being her own 36-year-old son with a history of violence and mental illness.

The son of a 70-year-old Dearborn woman killed over the weekend is now in police custody in connection with her death. Police responded to an incident around 7:30 p.m. Sunday in the 7800 block of Reuter Street. Officers gave CPR to the victim, identified as Jamila Alwan, 70, but the Dearborn Fire Department pronounced her dead at the scene.
