WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump’s special envoy Steve Witkoff said Thursday the U.S. is cutting short Gaza ceasefire talks and bringing home its negotiating team from Qatar for consultations after the latest response from Hamas “shows a lack of desire to reach a ceasefire in Gaza.”
President Donald Trump was caught by surprise last week by Israeli actions in Gaza and Syria, and in both instances phoned Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to “rectify” the matter, according to the White House.
John Swinney will raise the plight of the people of Gaza with President Trump when they meet in Scotland next week. The First Minister also backed the right to “peaceful demonstration” on the eve of huge protests against the Republican politician's visit.
