Tropical update: Gabrielle heads to the Azores, while 2 storms could go 'dancing.' Here's the latest.
Hurricane Warnings are posted for the Azores as the Portuguese island chain faces a direct hit on Thursday night. After passing by the Azores, Gabrielle is forecast to weaken into a post-tropical cyclone as it nears the Portuguese mainland later this weekend.
Tropical activity is ramping up in the Atlantic Basin. Along with Hurricane Gabrielle, which is currently tracking east of Bermuda, the National Hurricane Center is monitoring two tropical disturbances in the central Atlantic for potential development this week.
While neither will directly impact South Florida, one may bring wet weather and wind to Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands, and one may develop into the next tropical storm or hurricane as it heads toward Bermuda.
