One tornado swirled through fields near El Campo, Texas on Thursday, roughly midway between Houston and Victoria. Another twister touched down near Atascocita in Harris County, then moved over Lake Houston.

On Thursday, the National Weather Service issued a tornado warning for the Houston metro area as a severe storm system is rolling through Texas.

Heavy rain, lightning, gusty winds and a few strong to severe storms are possible on Saturday. Most people in our area won’t see anything severe, but an isolated tornado can’t be ruled out if the ingredients line up.

Wet weather will continue over the weekend as National Weather Service Nashville expects a round of rain to pass through Middle Tennessee with a low chance of strong storms Saturday. The weather service said there is a Level 1 of 5 marginal risk for thunderstorms Saturday afternoon and evening south of Interstate 40 and west of I-65.
