The Bruins must determine if a trade is worth the fallout of trading one of the club’s best players of all time.

Boston Bruins forward Charlie Coyle sent interim coach Joe Sacco a strong message about one of the youngest promises on the roster, who plays alongside him and Brad Marchand.

Making his weekly appearance on The Greg Hill Show, Mike Milbury said the Boston Bruins’ only three untouchable players are David Pastrnak, Charlie McAvoy and Jeremy Swayman. He would consider moving Brad Marchand.

Marchand was on the bench Saturday as the Bruins finished up a shootout loss in Ottawa. He practiced Sunday and is expected to resume a prominent role Monday against the Sharks.

Coyle will start the game on the third line on the wing with Matt Poitras, who returns at center and Trent Frederic. Vinni Lettieri will play his first game in Boston this season in Coyle’s regular spot with Elias Lindholm and Brad Marchand. Oliver Wahlstrom will sit out with Coyle available.

The Boston Bruins announced a series of transactions Tuesday, placing defenseman Charlie McAvoy and forward Mark Kastelic on Injured Reserve (IR), defenseman Hampus Lindholm on Long-Term Injured Reserve (LTIR) and recalling forward Matt Poitras and defender Michael Callahan from the AHL’s Providence Bruins.

Brad Marchand was clearly not at his best in the Bruins’ 6-5 shootout loss to the Ottawa Senators on Saturday. He had trouble handling the puck most of the afternoon and was slow to close on Josh Norris before the Senator scored the tying goal with 12 seconds left in regulation.

Another week down for the Boston Bruins. It was a busier week than last, but they’ve made the most of it. They went 3-1-0 over the four-game stretch. They beat the teams they were supposed to beat, but also got smothered by a strong New Jersey Devils team.

The Boston Bruins are back on the ice this afternoon to face the San Jose Sharks. After an ugly shootout loss to the Ottawa Senators last game, the Bruins will aim to bounce back and secure two points.

Don Sweeney and the Boston Bruins have underperformed throughout this season. Well, at least by their standards, especially if you consider the fact that they won a combined 112 games in their last two seasons and have only won 24 going into Saturday’s game.
