Alex Ovechkin scores goal No. 873

After breaking the 800-goal barrier during the 2022-23 season, Washington Capitals star Alex Ovechkin now has his sights set on breaking Wayne Gretzky's NHL career goals record of 894.
Alex Ovechkin became the second player in NHL history to score at least 20 goals in 20 straight seasons when he scored his 20th against the Nashville Predators at Bridgestone Arena on Saturday.
Ovechkin already owns the NHL records for power-play goals and shots on goal. He also has 133 game-winning goals , three away from breaking Jaromir Jagr’s mark (135).
