The company can again ship the Duchenne gene therapy for patients who can still walk, following a one-week pause triggered by safety concerns.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced on Friday, after market close, that it is investigating the death of an 8-year-old boy who had received Elevidys, Sarepta Therapeutics Inc.’s (NASDAQ:SRPT) gene therapy for Duchenne muscular dystrophy.

The company refused the FDA’s request and will continue shipping its therapy, Elevidys, to Duchenne patients who can still walk. A pause on shipments to older, non-ambulatory patients remains in place.
