YouTube TV Is Out To “Eliminate Competition,” Disney Execs Tell Employees In Carriage Fight Update
YouTube TV wants to "eliminate competition" and "devalue the very content that helped them build their service," top Disney executives charged.
Disney's top brass is telling the troops that they're going to continue to fight for a "fair deal" with Google's YouTube TV, after the internet service pulled ESPN, ABC and other Disney networks Thursday night.
The ESPN chief and co-chairs of Disney Entertainment sent a note to staff Friday thanking them for their work, and to admonish Google.
With the current deal set to expire, YouTube TV and Disney appear to be headed for a carriage dispute. The two sides released statements just before the deal is due to expire Thursday at 11:59 p.m. ET.
