Before the Wayne County outage-by-snake Sunday night, snakes crawled into electrical areas and shorted out equipment, in two earlier major central North Carolina power outages in a week.
The outage appears centered just north of Goldsboro just south of Interstate 42 between I-795 and U.S. 117. A Google satellite map shows a large electrical substation in that exact location.
