What initially started as a day off for Francisco Lindor ended with him as the hero for the New York Mets. On Wednesday, Lindor sustained a fractured pinky toe when getting hit in his right foot by Los Angeles Dodgers starter Tony Gonsolin.

With the score tied at 2 and Ryne Stanek pitching in the eighth, Jordan Beck singled, Thairo Estrada doubled and Hunter Goodman walked to load the bases with no outs. Ryan McMahon hit a sharp liner to third that Baty was able to snag on the fly, applying the tag to Beck to double him off third. Brenton Doyle then struck out.

Francisco Lindor found the perfect remedy for his broken toe with a big hit. Questionable before Friday’s game, the Mets shortstop entered as a pinch hitter in the ninth inning and delivered a go-ahead two-run double as New York beat the Colorado Rockies 4-2.
