As Hurricane Gabrielle moves east across the Atlantic, forecasters keep an eye on two tropical waves that could develop into a tropical storm or hurricane in the coming week.
Maximum sustained winds in the newly formed Hurricane Gabrielle increased to 90 mph overnight, according to the latest report from the National Hurricane Center. The storm is expected to strengthen over the next day or so and could become a major Category 3 hurricane by Monday night, forecasters said.

Hurricane Gabrielle intensified into a major Category 4 storm, the second major hurricane of the Atlantic hurricane season.
The tropics have awakened as more disturbances continue developing, with increasing odds of becoming named tropical storms within the week.
At 11 p.m. Tuesday, the National Hurricane Center issued an advisory stating that Category 4 Hurricane Gabrielle is in the Atlantic Ocean, 520 miles east-northeast of Bermuda and 1,635 miles west of the Azores. Packing maximum sustained winds of 130 mph, the hurricane is tracking to the east-northeast at 21 mph.
