Jon Jones’ retirement announcement shocked the UFC and entire MMA world, mainly because Jones’ career ended on an anticlimactic note with glaring asterisks. The former UFC heavyweight champion never unified his belt with then-interim titleholder (and current undisputed heavyweight champion) Tom Aspinall.

In June, Jones (28-1 MMA, 22-1 UFC) retired and relinquished his UFC heavyweight title which scrapped the long-awaited title-unification bout with Tom Aspinall. However, upon hearing that the UFC plans on holding an event at the White House lawn on July 4, it took Jones just weeks to come out of retirement and re-enter the drug testing pool.
