HILLSDALE, N.J. (AP) — A second small earthquake rattled the New York metropolitan area on Tuesday within several days of another. The 2.7 magnitude earthquake struck a little after noon near suburban Hillsdale, New Jersey, about 10 miles (16 kilometers) northwest of the Bronx in New York City, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

Multiple earthquakes shook Southern California hours after a tremor was felt on the East Coast on Aug. 5, according to data from the U.S. Geological Survey. One quake hit Rialto, California,

The quake was the second one to hit the New York City metro region four days. Both earthquakes were centered in Bergen County. On Saturday night, a 3.0 magnitude earthquake was centered northeast of Hasbrouck Heights, about 10 kilometers below the surface, according to the USGS.
