Perplexity, the startup behind the AI “answer” engine, has just launched its own web browser. The browser, called Comet, incorporates Perplexity’s AI search tools and assistant in a way that CEO Aravind Srinivas says “transforms entire browsing sessions into single, seamless interactions.”
Dan Ives, a well-known technology analyst at Wedbush Securities, stated that Apple is in advanced talks to acquire Perplexity, an AI-powered search engine startup backed by investors such as Nvidia and Jeff Bezos. He estimates the potential deal to be around $1.4 billion.
The timing isn’t subtle. Perplexity recently unveiled Comet, an AI-first browser built to make search feel conversational and context-aware.
