The BSE Sensex index fell 329.92 points or 0.43 per cent, closing at 76,190.46. During trading, it declined by 428.63 points or 0.56 per cent to 76,091.75. The NSE Nifty finished at 23,092.20, down by 113.

Foreign portfolio investors turned net sellers on Thursday, offloading shares worth Rs 5,462 crore, while domestic institutional investors picked up shares of Rs 3,713 crore

Indian stock market witnessed huge buying sentiment on Friday, taking Sensex higher by 466 points to even near 77,000 mark. Its counterpart Nifty 50 also jumped by nearly 142 points to near 23,350 levels.

Shares of Coforge Ltd. and Persistent Systems Ltd. surged 11% and 12%, respectively on positive third-quarter earnings. Tech sentiments were also buoyed by Trump's push to make the US an AI superpower by having fewer guardrails.

Trump trade has peaked, said V K Vijayakumar of Geojit Financial Services adding that the decline in US bond yields and the dollar index are indications of this.

GIFT Nifty futures are indicating a tepid start for the markets. As of around 8:30 AM, GIFT Nifty futures were trading at 23,135, reflecting a minor decline of 0.01%.

The BSE Sensex rose 115.39 points, or 0.15%, to close at 76,520.38. Likewise, Nifty 50 gained 50 points, or 0.22% to end at 23,205.35.

The Nifty 50 and BSE Sensex closed higher, supported by IT and cement sectors, while broader markets recovered from recent selling pressure.
