STEWARTVILLE, Minn. (KARE 11) - Law enforcement is on the scene at Stewartville High School in southeast Minnesota following a shooting in the parking lot early Friday.

As officials from the Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office explained in a statement this morning, the shooting that occurred in Stewartville does not appear to have been random, and there is no current threat to the safety of students and staff in Stewartville, Rochester, and other schools in our region.

This officer-involved shooting happened on a violent night in Minneapolis, with two homicides occurring just hours before. The first happened just before 9:30 p.m. on the 2900 block of Emerson Avenue North, where a man in his 20s was killed in a shooting.

A man arrested in Minnesota in connection with a deadly shooting at a northeast Atlanta townhome community in 2023 is facing charges in a second fatal shooting in the city, Atlanta police said Tuesday.

Police in Brooklyn Center, Minnesota, are investigating a shooting that took place Saturday afternoon. Police were called to the 1300 block of Shingle Creek Crossing around 2 p.m. for a shooting. When officers arrived at the scene, they found an adult woman and took her into custody.
