The team from Summerlin South’s journey to the U.S. Championship game in the Little League World Series began on Aug. 13, when Nevada defeated Illinois in blowout fashion by a final score of 16-1. Next, Nevada faced Washington on Aug. 15, clinching a 5-3 victory that led to a showdown against South Carolina.

Summerlin South is one victory from making Nevada history. The Las Vegas team will play Taipei (Chinese Taipei) at noon Sunday for the Little League World Series championship at Lamade Stadium. The game will be televised on ABC.

It's a monumental moment for baseball in Las Vegas, and Summerlin South has the whole valley behind them — as evidenced by the big crowd at Nacho Daddy's downtown location for a watch party.
