Hurricane Warnings are posted for the Azores as the Portuguese island chain faces a direct hit on Thursday night. After passing by the Azores, Gabrielle is forecast to weaken into a post-tropical cyclone as it nears the Portuguese mainland later this weekend.
At 11 p.m. Wednesday, the National Hurricane Center issued an advisory stating that Tropical Storm Humberto is in the Atlantic Ocean, 505 miles east-northeast of the Northern Leeward Islands. The system is moving to the west-northwest at 12 mph, with maximum sustained winds of 45 mph.
