A North Carolina woman bought a scratch-off lottery ticket while on a break from work at a grocery store and ended up clocking back in with a $200,000 prize.
Santana McCoy, of Engelhard, played $5 on the digital instant game Bison Bonanza, North Carolina Education Lottery officials said in an Oct. 15 news release. “That’s my favorite game,” McCoy said in the release. “It’s always the first game I play.”
The player has a lot to celebrate after buying a Carolina Cash 5 ticket online. It matched all the numbers picked in the Oct. 4 drawing, making it worth $539,813, the North Carolina Education Lottery wrote on its website and the social media platform X.

Now, he hopes to buy UTVs so his relatives can ride them together. “Family is the number one thing to me,” the winner told lottery officials in an Oct. 14 news release. “All for one and one for all.”
