Alabama football landed its first transfer portal commitment of the current entry window on Monday, when former Cal long-snapper David Bird announced he will join the Crimson Tide. Bird spent two seasons with the Bears before entering the portal.

Mbakwe is the 14th Alabama player to enter the portal and the second on Dec. 16th, joining Emmanuel Henderson, who also entered the portal Monday. The NCAA's winter transfer portal window closes Dec. 28. Players who enter the portal by that date can choose their new school at any point after the window closes.
