The Auburn Tigers have picked up a second transfer quarterback, with the addition of two-year Stanford starter Ashton Daniels. Daniels, who announced his destination Monday on Instagram, joins ex-Oklahoma starter Jackson Arnold in heading to the quarterback-starved Tigers.

Former Stanford signal caller Ashton Daniels committed to the Tigers on Monday, announcing his commitment in a post on Instagram with On3’s Hayes Fawcett. He becomes the second transfer quarterback to help fill the hole left in Auburn’s thin quarterback room, joining Oklahoma transfer Jackson Arnold.

"Seeing the atmosphere and everything that that comes with being an Auburn fan, being in this Auburn community, it's so special," Daniels said.

After a dominant 91-53 win over Ohio State on Saturday, Auburn men’s basketball remained the No. 2 team in the AP Poll. The Tigers received 12 first place votes but came second behind Tennessee for the second week in a row. The Volunteers played twice during the previous week, beating Miami and Illinois.

Tennessee held onto No. 1 in the AP Top 25 for the second consecutive week, though No. 2 Auburn closed the gap as the top five remained unchanged in the men's college basketball.

The Volunteers received 50 first-place votes from the national media panel after improving to 10-0 for only the fifth time in school history. Auburn picked up nine first-place votes from last week and had 12 total.

Auburn defensive lineman Trill Carter is recovering from a gunshot wound he suffered last week, The Charlotte Observer and The Athletic first reported.

An Auburn football player was shot last week in Charlotte, North Carolina, per ESPN. Defensive lineman DeAngelo ‘Trill’ Carter was shot in the chest around 11:45 p.m. on Thursday. The shooting happened in a parking lot on East 6th Street in uptown Charlotte.

The Rev. Chette Williams, a former Auburn linebacker who served as the Tigers' chaplain over the last three decades, died after falling off a boat in Lake Martin in Alexander City, Ala., police said Monday.
