Bell Textron Inc. is moving ahead with an estimated $632 million factory in north Fort Worth, bringing up to 520 jobs to the area, Gov. Greg Abbott and the company announced Dec.

Two years after winning the U.S. Army’s biggest helicopter competition in 40 years—replacing the famed Black Hawk with a Future Long Range Assault Aircraft—Fort Worth-based Bell Textron announced a new factory in AllianceTexas will manufacture components for the next-gen tilt-rotor aircraft.

The 447,000 sq ft factory will be located in Fort Worth, Texas and will be dedicated to FLRAA component manufacturing, Bell said. Its V-280 Valor aircraft was selected for the FLRAA programme. Bell plans to begin facility modification and equipment installation to ready the facility for Low-Rate Initial Production (LRIP) by 2028.

Council approved designating a tax abatement reinvestment zone and a 10-year tax abatement and grants totaling $46.7 million Tuesday night for Fort Worth-based Bell. The company is considering locating a manufacturing plant inside a 448,000-square-foot building near AllianceTexas at 15100 N. Beach St., formerly occupied by Stanley Black & Decker.

The new Fort Worth facility is expected to create hundreds of new jobs to help build long-range assault aircraft.

The factory is the first to take advantage of a new state incentive program, bringing 520 jobs to North Texas.
