Hurricane Gabrielle on Monday rapidly intensified into a major Category 4 hurricane while the National Hurricane Center increased the chances that two other Atlantic systems could develop into the season’s next tropical depression or storm.
At 5 a.m. Tuesday, the National Hurricane Center issued an advisory stating that Category 4 Hurricane Gabrielle is in the Atlantic Ocean, 305 miles east-northeast of Bermuda and 1,855 miles west of the Azores. Packing maximum sustained winds of 140 mph, the hurricane is tracking northeast at 13 mph.
