The United States has deported five individuals from Vietnam, Jamaica, Cuba, Yemen and Laos to Eswatini, a small southern African nation governed by a king who still holds absolute power.

The Trump administration said it has deported a group of immigrant men from different countries to the tiny African nation of Eswatini. The five men have long criminal records involving rape, homicide, drugs and assault according to Department of Homeland Security Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin.

The deportees, from Cuba, Jamaica, Laos, Vietnam and Yemen, had criminal records which included convictions for murder, homicide and child rape.

Eswatini’s government said on Wednesday that it was holding five third-country nationals deported from the United States in isolated prison units under a deal with President Donald Trump’s administration,
