Invest 98L is expected to strengthen and develop into a tropical depression or Tropical storm Melissa over the next few days, NHC forecasters say.
There is a high chance of a tropical wave developing over the next 7 days as it moves through the Caribbean. It does not currently pose a threat to Florida.
The disturbance, currently identified as Invest 98L, continues to organize itself over the central Caribbean Sea. Satellite and radar data early Tuesday show that the system now has a broad but improving circulation. While it still lacks a fully defined center, the overall structure is becoming more organized.
The National Hurricane Center is monitoring Invest 98L south of the U.S. Virgin Islands. While its path is uncertain, forecasters say conditions in the Caribbean may support development later this week,
