Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney and his Liberal Party were poised to lead a fourth consecutive government late Monday, as voters of the Great White North had their say in a federal election that was dominated by U.

The party fell short of a parliamentary majority, while Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre said he would stay head of his party.

The incumbent Liberal Party secured a fourth term in power after a major turnaround in fortunes, aided by President Donald Trump’s trade war and threats to annex Canadian territory.
